SM SAAM Board Names Oscar Hasbún New Chairman

Santiago, August 4, 2017. The board of directors of SM SAAM reported that it has named Oscar Hasbún Martínez as its new chairman. Mr. Hasbún is replacing Felipe Joannon Vergara, who served as executive chairman from 2014 until now. Jean-Paul Luksic Fontbona will remain vice-chairman of the board.

Hasbún, a member of SM SAAM’s board since April 2015, has a degree in business administration from Universidad Católica de Chile and has been linked to the Luksic Group since 2002, when he was in charge of its investments in Croatia. In 2011, he was appointed CEO of CSAV, where he led the shipping company’s transformation, restructuring and subsequent merger with Hapag-Lloyd.

He continues to hold this position in CSAV, which today operates car carrier and logistics businesses, and is a member of the board of Hapag-Lloyd.

At the meeting, the board also appointed a new director: Diego Bacigalupo Aracena. Mr. Bacigalupo has a degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Católica de Chile and an MBA from MIT, and serves as Quiñenco’s Chief Development Officer.
