Sustainable initiatives

SAAM Towage to Operate Latin America’s First Electric Tugboat in Chile in August 2025.

  • The vessel will operate in Puerto Chacabuco, Aysén Region — one of the southernmost terminals in the world — where it will provide berthing and unberthing services for Enap vessels.
  • Key Benefits:
    • Nearly 100% reduction in CO₂ emissions.
    • Lower ambient and underwater noise (enhanced protection for marine life).

This project represents a forward-looking step. We’re not just building tugboats — we’re delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for customers who value environmental performance across the logistics chain.

In 2024, SAAM Towage added the company’s first two electric tugboats to its fleet. These are currently operating in Vancouver, Canada.

Sailing into the future.
