Boosting rail shipments has helped reduce emissions.
Santiago, January 6, 2020. SAAM Logistics was recognized by Huella Chile, an organization that honors companies that measure and verify their greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
“This is a first step in making us aware of the effect our operations have on the environment and enabling us to take measures to reduce our emissions,” commented the CEOr of SAAM Logistics Chile, Fernando Encinas.
He added that “over the last few months, we have made an effort to boost container transport via rail, since using trains emits 68% less than trucks.”
The executive added that the entire team is committed to the mitigation plan in order to continue cutting emissions and looking for more efficient operating alternatives.
Huella Chile is a program from the Ministry of the Environment that promotes the calculation, reporting and management of greenhouse gases (GHG) in public and private-sector organizations.
