SAAM launches its first Sustainability Report

The document presents the strategy, priorities and performance of the Company in this matter, as well as the steps that have been carried out since 2015.

Santiago, September 28, 2017. SAAM, multinational company providing port terminals services, towage and logistics operations in 13 countries in the Americas, presented its first Sustainability Report.

“This is a new milestone for our company, which allows us to make tangible progress in the matter of transparency, and to have a new tool with which to measure our achievements. We want to continue moving forward in the sustainable development of our activities, as it is a fundamental part of SAAM’s strategy,” stated Macario Valdés, SAAM’s CEO.

He pointed out that the report gives an account of the work SAAM has been developing since 2015, involving a consultation process with major stakeholders, development of a materiality matrix, and formulation of the Company’s Sustainability Policy, followed by its strategy and work plans to organize and incorporate it to the Company’s management.

“We believe that to develop a sustainable business over time, we must focus our task towards generating value for our clients, the community workers, suppliers and shareholders, while simultaneously respecting our environment and acting with high ethical standards” he added.

The milestones highlighted by the Report include SAAM’s incorporation to the Dow Jones Sustainabilty Index Chile; the creation, at a corporate level, of the Department of Health, Safety and the Environment; the realization of various social investment projects regarding its main operations and participation in Clean Production Agreements of four of its ports in Chile (Iquique, Antofagasta, San Antonio and San Vicente).

This first version of the Sustainability Report was prepared according to the guidelines established by Global Reporting Initiative G4 and its full version was made available to its main stakeholders and general public on its website https://www.saam.com/sostenibilidad-2/
