SAAM Towage to Build Four New Tugs to Strengthen Its Fleet in Brazil

The investment is part of the company’s ongoing fleet renewal strategy. Today, SAAM Towage operates one of the largest fleets in Brazil, with the highest average bollard pull in the market and state of the art technology.

 

Brazil, June 30, 2026 | SAAM Towage has signed a contract with Belov Shipyard to build four new tugboats. The project is part of the company’s continuous fleet renewal strategy and supports its growth in Brazil, where it operates in 19 ports with a fleet of more than 65 vessels.

The new vessels will be 70 tonne bollard pull azimuth stern drive (ASD) tugboats, equipped with FiFi 1 firefighting systems and designed by Robert Allan Ltd., the internationally recognized naval architecture firm.

“We are strengthening our operations across the markets where we operate by investing in state of the art assets. Brazil is one of the most important markets for our company, and our focus is to continue growing while delivering the highest level of service to our customers,” said Renata Ervilha, Country Manager of SAAM Towage Brazil.
