Terminal Portuario Guayaquil started new service with MSC

This new service, the MSC Feeder Guayaquil / Balboa, is intended mainly for the export of bananas.

Ecuador, May 17, 2016.- Terminal Portuario Guayaquil (TPG), a SAAM operated port since 2006, added to its operations a new service with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).

The MSC Feeder Guayaquil / Balboa (HUB port for remaining destinations), is mostly intended for the refrigerated export of bananas. This new service will involve some 50 thousand additional boxes.

“With this new service, we expand our offer of products, benefiting our clients and Guayaquil’s commercial exchange. We are making great efforts to diversify our cargoes and the services we provide, in order to continue to position ourselves as an efficient alternative for Ecuador’s export of products”, stated TPG General Manager, Enrique Brito.

Terminal Portuario Guayaquil is a privately owned port, which SAAM started operating in July, 2006, with a concession for 40 years. It is located at the foot of Estero Santa Ana, in Isla Trinitaria, a suburb of the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Transfer of chief cargoes was done in containers, and included: general import cargo, banana exports, shrimps/prawns, cocoa, wood, fishmeal, and metals. During 2015, 2,275,462 tons were transferred.

SAAM is a Chilean multinational company present in 15 countries through its participation in port terminals, tugboats, and logistics operations, generating over 10 thousand jobs. It is the second port operator in South America, with eleven ports in the United States, Mexico Colombia Peru and Chile.
