Saam Smit Towage welcomes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau onboard the tug SST Capilano in Vancouver Harbour

Vancouver, BC 3 January 2017. Saam Smit Towage Canada (SST) welcomed The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, P.C., M.P., Prime Minister of Canada, onboard the SST Capilano in Vancouver Harbour on December 20th, 2016. The Prime Minister had recently announced the allocation of two emergency towage vessels for the West Coast, under the new Oceans Protection Plan

Saam Smit Towage was honoured to host Prime Minister Trudeau. We are very proud of our newest fleet additions. The SST Capilano and SST Salish will play an important role in supporting safe ship movements throughout the Port of Vancouver for years to come.”, said Captain Mark Bingham, Vice President, Operations.

The SST Capilano and SST Salish are SST’s newest vessels in Vancouver. The 22m, 65TBP sister vessels were constructed to Lloyds Registry standards at ABD Shipyards in North Vancouver and delivered in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
