SAAM is recognized as one of the companies that compose the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile

The Company is the only one in the transport and infrastructure category in the country that forms part of the Index.

Santiago, March 22, 2017. In a Ceremony at “Salón de Ruedas” of the Santiago Stock Exchange, SAAM, multinational company providing services to international trade through its three business divisions: Port Terminals, Towage and Logistics, was recognized as one of 21 companies that compose the Dow Jones Sustainability Chile Index (DJSI) 2017 and as one of the 40 companies that compose the blue-chip Index (IPSA) 2017.

SAAM was recognized for its leadership in the field of sustainability within the industry.

“This is the reflection of the commitment we have undertaken in the field of sustainability, generating a work plan that will allow us to move forward in a more direct relationship with all our stakeholders by delivering timely information to the market and developing actions to generate value in our areas of influence,” said SAAM’s CEO, Macario Valdés.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index was created in 1999 and is now one of the most important indicators at a global level to measure leading companies in sustainability. In Chile it was created in 2015 and in last year’s version 57 local companies participated, of which 21 were selected for complying with all standards and requirements of the fields of environmental, social and corporate governance.

With over 55 years of experience, SAAM is present in 15 countries of North, Central and South America, generating employment for more than 11 thousand workers. It is currently one of the major port operators in South America and leader in tugboat services in the continent and fourth globally.
