Approximately 7,600 tons of frozen fish will be unloaded at the terminal; they will subsequently be consolidated in Maersk’s reefer containers.
Talcahuano, April 26, 2017. Today arrived in San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI), owned by SAAM and SSA Marine, the factory ship Annelies Ilena, the largest vessel of this type, dedicated to process and freeze fish in a mechanized way in the high seas.
SVTI’s General Manager, Eduardo González, said that “this is a new milestone for the terminal and is part of our business strategy of bringing in new clients and diversifying cargoes. Our commitment is to continue improving the service we provide, expanding our offer in order to maintain our leadership in the region.”
The ship will unload around 7,600 tons of frozen fish, which will then be consolidated in Maersk’s reefer containers destined to Nigeria, Congo, Peru and Cuba.
The vessel, which will remain more than two days in San Vicente Bay, was built in the year 2000, is 146 meters long and 24 meters wide, and has a storage capacity of around 7,600 tons. This is equivalent to the fish consumption of one million Chileans.
With this alliance, the terminal achieves an important milestone, which joins in one operation two giants in their own right: the largest factory ship and Maersk, the major container transport shipping company.
