Florida International Terminal Acquires Two Reach Stackers

The terminal, operated in the United States by SAAM, has now 15 container handlers.

Florida, United States, April 25, 2017.- Florida International Terminal (FIT), operated by SAAM in Port Everglades – Fort Lauderdale (Florida, U.S.A.) acquired two new reach stackers Taylor model XRS-9972, a North American firm.

The arrival of this new equipment is part of the company’s fleet renovation plan that started in 2015. “With this, we seek to continue strengthening the terminal’s handling capacity to provide better and more efficient service to our clients”, explained FIT VP and CEO, Klaus Stadthagen.

Mr. Stadthagen added “the reach stackers will help to improve the capacity for containers storage in the yard between 20% – 30%, which will allow us to meet de growing demand for services”.

The new Taylor machines are already operating at the terminal with outstanding results due to their handling capacity and versatility, joining the other 13 that FIT has available for its customers.

FIT is one of the 12 terminals where SAAM has a stake in America. It has a concession until 2025 (with extension option 5 + 5), and in 2016 mobilized more than 202 thousand TEUs.

SAAM is a Chilean multinational company present in 15 countries through its participation in port terminals, towage and logistics operations, and generating more than 10,000 jobs. It is the second port operator in South America, with eleven ports in the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile.
