Fifty seven local companies participated, but only 21 met the standards and requirements to be included in this indicator.

Santiago, September 09, 2016. For the first time, SAAM will be part of the select list of 21 companies that join the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile (DJSI), first sustainability index in the country. SAAM is the only Chilean company in the transportation and infrastructure category that was included in the Index, an acknowledgement of the company’s leadership in sustainability matters within the industry.
“This is an important achievement and reinforces the fact that our commitment in this matter is on the right path. However, it also raises a significant challenge, which is to make things even better. We were compared with the best companies in the world, and we must double our efforts to continue generating value for all our stakeholders, contributing to the integral development of Chile with a long-term perspective,” said SAAM’s CEO, Macario Valdés.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index was created in 1999 and is now one of the most important global indicators to measure the leading companies in sustainability. In Chile it was created in 2015 and in this year’s version 57 local companies participated, of which only 21 were selected as they complied with the standards and requirements in matters of environmental, social and corporate governance.
SAAM is a multinational company that provides services to international trade through its three business divisions: Port Terminals, Towage and Logistics. With over 50 years of experience, SAAM is present in 15 countries of North, Central and South America, generating employment for more than 10 thousand workers.
