The new facilities will allow doubling production, providing a more efficient service to its customers.

Valdivia, November 21, 2016. This morning, Portuaria Corral had the official inauguration of its new plant in Valdivia, which will support the development of the timber industry by producing wood chips for export, the main markets for which are Japan and China.

“Today we are giving another step to continue growing sustainably, offering a new and more efficient service to our customers, with higher environmental standards. It is further proof of our Company’s commitment with the productive development in the zone, with long-term investments,” emphasized Diego Sprenger, General Manager of the Company.

He added that the new plant will allow improving production and thus meet in a better way the demand and needs of the customers in the area. In this sense, the plant may produce between 130 and 140 tn/hr of wood chips, compared to the 60 tn/hr produced by the previous chipper, thanks to a new design.

In addition, the Kial Company participated in the construction of the plant, for purposes of assisting with noise mitigation solutions for the plant. Measures such as the encapsulation of the buildings housing the chipper and screen, enabled reducing the noise level by 45%.

Furthermore, the plant’s safety standards were strengthened, as well as accesses to the plant, with the implementation of new protocols for handling in field (or pitch/court) and in chips, as well as measures for truck drivers, check-ups and permanent inspections for workers.
